Sul Tasto

Sul Tasto (Flautando) is an indication to play over fingerboard. The bow must be played with little weight into the string or it will produce a crunch. Sul tasto produces a light and airy sound. In French, sur la touche, this technique is often required in the music of Debussy and Ravel.
