Intelligent Bow Distribution

Bow distribution involves being in the right part of the bow to handle the demands of the next note. Advanced repertoire demands that the player be in total control over the weight, speed and placement of the bow to handle any musical challenge.

Exercises for bow distribution

Start from the midpoint of the bow and go to tip. Then start from middle and go to frog. Do this with a metronomic pulse. Try different combinations (frog to middle, tip to middle, etc.)

Expand this exercise by dividing the bow into 4 sections, then combine different sections of the bow over a pulse.

Expand further by splitting the bow into uneven segments.

Try using easy scale patterns while working with bow distribution.
