Controlling the Dynamic Tendencies of the Bow

The frog of the bow is heavier than the tip. For this reason, playing a down bow usually results in a diminuendo and an up bow usually results in a crescendo. To compensate for these natural tendencies of the bow, the advanced performer makes an adjustment by adding or subtracting weight from bow.
