Violin and Viola Vibrato Tips and Tricks

Vibrato is harder to do on violin and viola than on cello and bass, because there is no ground to anchor the instrument. Here are some additional activites to try with students who are having difficulty learning vibrato:

To the Wall

Place scroll of instrument against wall.

Hook with 3rd finger in 3rd or 4th position.

Get motion going then back away from the wall.
