Exercises to Develop Vibrato - Violin and Viola

Wobble Exercise

This exercise can be used to develop wrist vibrato. Easiest on the 3rd or 2nd finger, start from the note, keep the fingertip in place and rock the wrist and hand below and back. This exercise can also be done from the arm. Gradually increase the number of "wobbles" per beat until full vibrato speed is achieved. All joints in the hand must be flexible and loose for vibrato to occur.
