This is a movie that demonstrates an excerpt from a cello exercise by Crane. Notice the smooth connected motion of the shifts. The thumb maintains contact with the neck and moves with the hand. The hand and fingers maintain a consistent shape and a finger will remain in contact with the string to anchor the hand.
