Shifting in Context for Bass
This is a movie that demonstrates left hand finger patterns on the double bass. Twinkle Twinkle is demonstrated in first position, followed by one-octave D major and C major scales, concluding with a 2-octave G scale. Observe the fingers- they are kept low to the strings. The hand maintains a frame over the fingerboard. Fingers are relaxed and curved. When shifting the thumb maintains contact with the neck of the instrument and at least one finger (sometimes more depending on the shift) maintain contact with the string. Shifting is a smooth connected motion.
